At first when I was researching the Bose QC2 headphones I was pretty skeptical simply because of the price.
Could a pair of headphones for $200-$300 really be worth it?
Other customer reviews below and I will answer that question in a bit.
First, let’s go over the specs and summary of the QC2′s:
Advertised as dramatically reducing unwanted noises, the advanced Bose tech will allow you to enjoy your favorite audio without irritating interruptions. Years of research went into developing the patented Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones so that you can hear more of what you want to hear. Light in weight and designed for comfort, the headphones fold up flat so you can store them easily in your purse, backpack, or briefcase. These will work with any device you’ve got from mp3 players to home stereos and airplane entertainment systems.
So how do the QC2′s stack up?
I’ve been using these for nearly a year so far. Not as long as many of the reviewers found below but long enough to form a solid opinion on them. The biggest complaint I have by far with the QuietComfort 2′s is the material construction. The plastic is already starting to fall apart after about a year of use and I’ve taped it together with some good ol’ black electrical tape.
The quality of the sound is superb, nothing bad to say about it.
Despite the good quality in sound the material defects are pretty troubling. When you spend hundreds of dollars you expect a quality procuct that’s going to last for a long time. Unfortunately I can’t see these headphones lasting for longer than 3 or 4 years.
What Do Other People Think About the Bose QC2 Headphones?
“The cool thing is that once they’re on your head, when you turn them on, you can literally feel the background melt into silence. Wonderful indeed! But if I had to say there was a negative, it would be the ear-cups, which can deteriorate rather quickly. Tough to really argue it though because I use them very often, so for me it’s also wear and tear. The other negative to this negative, is that the replacement of them is, around thirty-five dollars. But in my experience, talking to their customer service to get them was a breeze. Also… unfortunately I’m one of the people that can tell the difference between compressed music, and if you can too, it might bother you a little when you’re listening to an MP3 player. Having said all of this, I’d still recommend these to anyone that travels and wants a higher quality listening experience.”

“I bought this product about 3 years ago for a plane flight. They worked fairly well for noise cancellation but not as good as I had hoped.
On the positive side, they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. I find most headphones uncomfortable so this is very important to me.
On the negative side, with light usage and good care the synthetic black leather of the ear cushions and the top headband is all flaking off. It is making a major mess. Also, I am not happy that the sound cuts off when the battery dies. I think it should continue without noise cancellation which I do not need most of the time.
I called Bose and they sell replacement ear cushions for about $30. The problem is that this does not solve the flaking on the headband. They do have a program to replace the headphones with new ones for $100.
I find this flaking problem to be a manufacturing defect. They should recall them and replace them at no charge with a better material.
Since comfort is so important to me I am replacing them. I wish I could find a similar headphone that is just as comfortable at lower cost and better quality.”
